I’m not sure if anyone else feels this, but I can feel excitement surging through my veins! Camp NaNoWriMo will be kicking off in a few hours my time. I’ve been getting ready for it over the past few days. Here is the checklist I have been using for NaNoWriMo this year.
✔ Writing a plot (read here)
✔ Set a word goal
✔ Deciding perspective
✔ Started a cabin
✔ Created a cover
✔ Stocked up on healthy snacks
✔ Got as many chores out of the way as possible
✔ Informed my real life friends that I might be missing for a few weeks
✔ Music playlist
I do think I’m well on my way. My word goal will be 31k. This means I will have to aim to write a 1000 words a day. Since I will be gone for about a week to go have fun with my family, I will try to get a head start before then.
NaNoWriMo will help me get back into the routine of writing a bit every day. I haven’t done this loyally since November. During April I was doing well too, but then the story ‘suddenly’ ended and I felt myself lost without it. I had spent November and about half of April writing a story called Nivitera’s Promise. It’s a work that will still require a few sequels; preferably three. But I think letting it go for a bit will be healthy so I can come back to it with a renewed view. I assured this to a friend to, who sometimes asks about the story and how it’s coming along. No worries!
Anyway, the other day I tried to draw Bai’yan. Sadly to say the drawing didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped. Therefore, I won’t be posting the picture here; apologies. But I am thinking of either publishing bits and pieces of Skybright or the entire novel here. I’ve had various people show interest in it after they read my plot. I must please the fans!
Tonight I’ll be kicking the story off with a thrilling prologue where Gab describes his departure from Earth as he travels through the universe to his new destination; Earth II. I plan on publishing the prologue either during this month or either later after revision/editing has been done.
I’m going to leave today’s post with this. I know it is shorter than what I usually post, but that is okay. I am keeping many of my words for tonight. Good luck to all of my fellow campers! May the words be with you.
Now back to the construction of my playlist I go!
